Bill grew up in Oregon; received three degrees from the University of Chicago,
including a Ph.D. in the Sociology of Education; and taught on the graduate
faculties of Harvard University and the University of Toronto. He has had
three doctoral dissertations written about his career and work as a
transformational change agent in education.
